The Adult Day Center Of Somerset County Receives a Grant to Pilot Horticultural Therapy

Adult-Day-CenterThe ADC has received a grant from the Grotta Fund for Senior Care of the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater MetroWest NJ to introduce horticultural therapy (HT). We will begin by providing regular bi-monthly workshops to our members, building relationships with community partners, educating the staff and volunteers about the benefits of HT and expanding and maintaining the ADC’s garden into a formal “therapy garden.” The ADC has identified Laura DePrado of Final Touch Plantscaping, LLC as our therapist, and staff member Nikki Hoffman will assist. The New Road School, with the ADC has an ongoing partnership as a job training site for the students. Student volunteers will assist the staff with preparing the materials for the workshops and helping members to complete the tasks. The program will launch in mid-September.
