Plants help engage and enrich daily life of a restricted senior

In May of last year I received a call from a home-care agency, which services seniors living at home in Somerset and Hunterdon counties. The agency was seeking my help with one of their senior patients, an 86-year-old who resides at home. (more…)

In working and interacting with hundreds of people in the last five years, I have noticed a pre-concluded understanding, and therefore misunderstanding, about what horticultural therapy is and isn’t. Because of the word “therapy,” it is only logical that most people would consider that only special need or physically challenged individuals benefit from horticultural therapy. (more…)

Horticulture therapist awarded Continuing Education Scholarship by Somerset County Board of Agriculture Duke Farms

Scholarship AwardedThe Somerset County Board of Agriculture awarded its annual Tom Everett Memorial Scholarship for continuing education to Laura DePrado during its Annual Gala on Nov. 1 at Duke Farms in Hillsborough.

This annual $500 scholarship was created to honor Everett’s personal and agricultural legacy, and his initiative and leadership. (more…)
